CloudTerrain Limited, a regional manages service provider, revealed that it has used the CA AppLogic cloud platform to launch the first SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) Document Management System (DMS) to small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME) businesses.
"Our vision is to offer SMEs affordable, enterprise-class SaaS services that empower them to become more competitive, more agile and more efficient," Business Director of CloudTerrain, Edward Ng, explained. "CA AppLogic is a sophisticated cloud service delivery platform that helps us quickly deliver these services while ensuring our ability to achieve 99.95 percent availability."
The DMS solution allows CloudTerrain’s customers to store their documents, images and video in a central repository, where they can then access their files from anywhere on almost any device over a Web-based interface. Additionally, rules-based access ensures only authorized people can view sensitive documents, which is critical, since CloudTerrain specializes in the legal and insurance fields where security is paramount.
CloudTerrain offers the DMS under a “pay-as-you-go” model, meaning customers pay for only the capacity they use.
CloudTerrain relied heavily on CA AppLogic to implement the DMS. AppLogic allowed CloudTerrain to develop the system quicky and with little risk. CloudTerrain can define virtual business services in both public and private clouds using an intuitive interface.
CA AppLogic also provides a Web-based interface to manage applications after they’ve been deployed.
"Changing customer requirements have created a tremendous marketing opportunity for SaaS solutions and other cloud-based offerings," Vander Ng, alliance director for Hong Kong and Taiwan at CA Technologies, commented. "By adopting the CA AppLogic cloud platform, CloudTerrain has been able to successfully capture this market opportunity."
Even more, Gartner recently placed CA as a “Leader” in its “Magic Quadrant for Integrated IT Portfolio Analysis Applications (IIPA)” report.
“Leaders in the IIPA Magic Quadrant meet many portfolio management needs of multiple domains within IT,” the report said. “Thus, the products of the Leaders can, among other things, support many different IT portfolio scenarios and multiple IT domain roles, while interweaving these portfolios and scenarios through the identification of interrelationships and interdependencies.”
