SiSense Supports Windows Azure with Big Data Analytics Cloud Offering

SiSense Supports Windows Azure with Big Data Analytics Cloud Offering

By Laura Stotler

SiSense announced that it is working with Microsoft Corp. to add Windows Azure to its SiSense Cloud offering. The collaboration will enable customers to enjoy the SiSense big data analytics software, Prism, through the Windows cloud, including all the benefits of its on-premises offering.

SiSense is already working in the cloud through Amazon and has expanded its reach with the support for Windows Azure. The company hopes a broader cloud reach will enable more customers to crunch their data more efficiently, without requiring them to purchase or configure hardware or software.

The Prism solution, when deployed in the cloud, lets users sign up for the service online and provides businesses with everything they need to manage and process big data analytics. It is offered through a "pay-as-you-go" model, enabling companies to move away from traditional software requiring a capital investment to a predictable subscription model.

The service includes all the hardware and software users need to handle their big data analytics, and may be scaled for more capacity or to replicate environments to support additional users in just a few clicks. The SiSense solution operates the same way in the cloud as it does on premises, and can be moved to and from the cloud with minimal disruption to users and organizations' budgets.

Features of the Prism solution include the ability to process 100 times more data than RAM in-memory solutions, as well as the ability to store and query billions of rows of data. Automatic extraction (ETL) from all major databases is also featured, including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL and Intuit QuickBase. The offering also works with Salesforce.com, Google Adwords, Google Analytics, Google Spreadsheets, Zendesk and Intuit QuickBooks and can process data from Hadoop/Hive.

Additional benefits include web-based visualization based on HTML 5 and JavaScript. The offering is available for free in a 30-day trial.

"Windows Azure gives customers a more secure and scalable cloud platform for building flexible solutions," said Eugene Saburi, general manager, server and tools marketing, Microsoft. "SiSense takes advantage of Windows Azure to provide a solution that works seamlessly on-premises and in the Cloud. Their approach helps make Big Data Analytics a reality for everyone."

"Big Data Analytics is too complicated," says Amit Bendov, SiSense CEO. "Customers have to buy dedicated hardware and hire technical teams to configure and administer their infrastructure. It can take months before users can draw value from their data. In an era where traditional solutions can take time to deploy and cost millions, SiSense aims to change the game and provide an affordable solution that works for all."
