CoreSite Enables Customers to Connect Directly with Cloud Service Providers through the Open Cloud Exchange

CoreSite Enables Customers to Connect Directly with Cloud Service Providers through the Open Cloud Exchange

By David Gitonga

Cloud services have pretty much started to determine how enterprises are run and how companies deliver services to customers. Since customer growth and long-term competitive advantage are core in any business, the choice of a data center and cloud service management services is equally crucial. Cloud service availability has also become important when making a decision on what cloud service providers to bet your money on. It is with these thoughts in mind that CoreSite Realty Corporation (COR) announced its CoreSite Open Cloud Exchange.

The CoreSite Open Cloud Exchange seeks to improve customer choice by bringing together partnerships and services from a broad range of providers, ranging from managed service providers to system integrators. CoreSite facilitates these connections by providing a network of seven data center campuses in North America located in California, New York, Chicago, Virginia, Boston and Washington. Customers will now be able to connect directly to the cloud service provider of their choice right within CoreSite’s data centers.

With a significant worldwide growth demand for cloud interconnection and management services, CoreSite is building a premier home for cloud service networks as the foundation for delivering best-in-class scalability, management, automation, software and many-to-many exchange capability. With the Open Cloud Exchange, customers will now be able to access flexible performance cloud infrastructure services that are easy to manage and that offer guaranteed performance with real-time monitoring built right in.

Initially, the Open Cloud Exchange will include four industry leaders. CENX will provide layer 2 cloud infrastructure services of its CENX Automated Ethernet Lifecycle Management software, RightScale will provide an easy way of deploying and managing business-critical applications, RiverMeadow Software will deliver automated cloud onboarding SaaS for migrating servers and workloads, while Brocade will provide the hardware infrastructure and switching logic which will be at the heart of the Open Cloud Exchange.

These best-of-breed partnerships are, however, not exhaustive of what customers can expect from CoreSite. Additional services are expected in 2013 -- most notably, the ability to connect to providers between customers and providers across multiple CoreSite locations as well as within the same metropolitan and on-net buildings throughout the country.

The CoreSite Open Cloud Exchange is no doubt a powerful, innovative product that offers enormous capabilities within the cloud ecosystem.
