A major managed service provider (MSP) serving the San Francisco Bay area has announced new majority stockholders. Clare Computer Solutions, which provides computer network support, IT consulting and on-demand IT services for businesses, announced the new direction of the company.
Clare CEO Brad Mendonsa and president and COO Ralph Lawhorn have become majority stockholders in the company as well as architects of the company's future, according to Clare. Clare focuses on providing managed support services to small and medium-sized businesses, including 24-hour monitoring and CIO/CTO-level IT consulting.
The MSP partners with a number of large technology players, including Microsoft, Cisco, VMWare, Citrix and Hewlett-Packard. Clare's managed services portfolio consists of a variety of IT and network services like virtualization, WAN/LAN design, storage, and implementation and management of computer networks. The company focuses on installations ranging from small to complex multi-site solutions.
Additional offerings include data backup and replication, disaster recovery, and anti-virus and security updates. Clare is also working in the cloud, and provides customers with IT strategy development in support of their core business initiatives.
"There are many interesting technological trends and innovations we see for 2013 such as virtualization, cloud services, data storage, backup and replication, and we are poised to be leaders in delivering IT solutions in those technologies," said Mendonsa.
Previously a co-founder of Golden State Networks, Mendonsa joined Clare in 2006 as part of a merger between the two companies. He has focused on increasing Clare's IT managed services practices in addition to the company's IT consulting business. Mendonsa has served as CEO since 2011, contributing to the company's corporate culture shift from a "breakfix" approach to an MSP approach offering professional, proactive IT support and consulting services.
"We look forward to continuing to deliver world-class IT solutions and service to San Francisco Bay Area businesses," said Lawhorn. "We have an excellent team that ensures that technology goals meet business needs."
Lawhorn has worked at Clare for more than 20 years, with a focus on design and delivering a solid service model. He became president eight years ago, and was also appointed COO in 2001. Lawhorn was previously a field engineer and is part of Clare's day-to-day operations in addition to providing strategic direction along with Mendonsa.
