OpenPeak Announces SECTOR Technology for Wrapping Applications for Security and Management

By Laura Stotler

Mobile device and application management solutions company, OpenPeak Inc. has announced its SECTOR Network ecosystem offering for designing secure managed applications for the enterprise. The solution addresses the growing mobile security challenges faced by a variety of businesses.

The new SECTOR technology works by wrapping applications for security and management, enabling both developers and independent software vendors to utilize OpenPeak's post-development ecosystem. The system enables app wrapping for security, removing the need to build and test entirely new and secure versions of developers' apps for each individual enterprise.

OpenPeak's new offering enables developers to reach a growing business market by easily wrapping apps for security and management, while carriers may provide a universally accepted library of secure apps for their business customers. Wrapped apps share a number of consistent mechanisms, including authentication, authorization, accounting and encryption of data both in motion and at rest.

Additional features include the ability to move data among personal, unmanaged apps and the ability to offer tight control for apps wrapped with SECTOR. This may be provided throughout enterprise apps as well as on personal devices.

SECTOR wrapped apps may be deployed and dynamically managed via a centralized administration portal, and IT administrators may define device, app and data policies deployed among device groups. Developers may also upload their current application to the website, where it is wrapped and returned to them ready to submit directly to the enterprise or a public App Store. Wrapped apps may be managed and accessed by IT administrators, who may make policy changes even after they are deployed to mobile devices.

"With the proliferation of mobile devices in the workplace and the rapid rise of BYOD, app and data security is an increasing concern," said Dan Gittleman, CEO of OpenPeak. "With SECTOR app wrapping and the SECTOR Network, we've created an ecosystem to make it simple for developers and ISVs to make their apps consistently ready for enterprise management and security. All without additional coding, while also ensuring uniform access control and data protection policies."

"Our partners and customers find that adopting SECTOR technology to wrap applications for security and management is the most efficient and effective way to reach a large and growing business market," added Gittleman.
