Trend Micro Platform for MSPs Integrated with Tech Data's Solutions Store

By Laura Stotler

Tech Data Corporation and Trend Micro Inc. have teamed up to integrate Trend Micro's Licensing Management Platform (LMP) into the Tech Data Solutions Store. The LMP solution is an application specifically designed for managed service providers (MSPs), enabling Trend Micro's MSP resellers direct software license provisioning control for cloud-based SaaS security products. Trend Micro specializes in cloud security and virtualization.

Global IT products and services distributor Tech Data will work with Trend Micro to pilot the integration with a select group of their MSP Partners. The pilot will feature the LMP solution combined with Tech Data's Solution Store, providing access to the distributor's recurring and metered billing and provisioning system, which is powered by StreamOne.

A final implementation of the Trend Micro platform with the Solutions Store is slated for April. Tech Data provides a variety of technology products, services and solutions, with $26.5 billion in net sales generated in the fiscal year ending January 31, 2012. The company offers advanced logistics capabilities and value-added services like document imaging, security and unified communications to 125,000 resellers in more than 100 countries.

The company's StreamOne Software License Selector is designed to improve how the channel sells and distributes software. The portal is designed to guide resellers through the entire software-purchasing process and can sift through hundreds of thousands of software SKUs as well as vendors' licensing rules to select the correct software part number as well as accurate pricing and license types.

The solution supports a large number of software vendors, including Absolute Software, Acronis, Adobe, Autodesk, BitDefender, CA, Check Point, Corel, Datawatch, Diskeeper, Double-Take, Ericom, Filemaker, Intuit, Ipswitch, Kaspersky, McAfee, Micro Focus, Microsoft, Novell, Nuance, Oracle, Panda, Parallels, Red Hat, Sage, SAP, SCO, SolarWinds, St. Bernard, Sybase, Symantec, Trend Micro, USA.NET, Vasco, Vizioncore and VMware.

"This seamless integration of systems will significantly benefit our reseller partners because we will be able to provide accurate and consolidated billing across all solutions provisioned through Tech Data and Trend Micro," said Bharath Natarajan, director of product marketing, TDCloud and Software Services at Tech Data. "Once the implementation between the Solutions Store and Licensing Management Platform is extended to all of our resellers, they will no longer have to worry about disparities in billing and license management—ultimately freeing them up to focus more on their customers' security needs."

"At Trend Micro, we are pleased to reach the pilot and launch phase of this highly sophisticated systems integration between Trend Micro and Tech Data," said Gil Morales, director of channel sales at Trend Micro. "With tight integration of our systems, Tech Data's MSP resellers will have the ability to self-provision Trend Micro SaaS security products and remove the overhead associated with user counts and billing. This is a big win for MSP reseller partners, and opens the door to how software acquisition will be managed by channel partners in 2013 and beyond. "
