In major data center acquisition news, QTS (Quality Technology Services) announced it has completed its acquisition of the Herakles designed and engineered Internet Data Center facility in northern California. QTS, a provider of managed services and data center facilities, acquired the 92,000 square-foot, Tier III data center through a deal with undisclosed terms.
The center provides 52,600 square feet of raised floor space as well as nine megawatts of power capacity in Sacramento, which is a seismically-neutral area. The acquisition expands the QTS footprint in California to three wholly owned and operated facilities. Herakles will be fully integrated into the service provider's data center portfolio as well as the QTS Sacramento Data Center.
The Bank Street Group was the exclusive financial advisor to Herakles for the transaction. The company has provided data center services for more than 11 years, with uptime exceeding 99.999 percent as well as high customer satisfaction ratings.
The acquisition adds to the QTS portfolio of core data center and managed services geared toward enterprise businesses. These include custom data center services as well as colocation and cloud services, with the goal of offering flexibility, scale and security to support the infrastructure demands of Web and IT applications. QTS supports more than 700 customers, with more than three million square feet of data center infrastructure.
"The acquisition of this technologically advanced data center adds a strategically located asset to our portfolio," said Chad Williams, CEO of QTS. "Located just 120 miles north of our Santa Clara, Calif., data center and less than 90 miles from San Francisco, this facility expands our northern California presence and offers California-based and national customers in each facility regional disaster recovery options as well as colocation and cloud services."
"QTS' acquisition of the Herakles data center now gives us the opportunity to remain in the data center environment that has proven to be very beneficial to our business while giving us the advantages of a relationship with a national data center provider," said Gary Lamb, founder and CTO of Next Cloud, Inc., a Herakles customer. "As we explore options for cloud services and business continuity, we now have the convenience of expanding with a single service provider."
