Legal MSP Simplegrid Offers Report on Technology Trends Among Law Firms

Legal IT support services firm Simplegrid has published a free report about the use of technologies in law firms. The report covers a number of technologies as well as advice on the use of mobile devices, cloud computing and how virtualization impacts modern law offices.

The report, published by Ahsun Saleem, president and CEO at Simplegrid, covers technologies like Windows 7, Office 2010 and Exchange 2010. He also discusses the use of social media as a tool law firms may use to connect with their client bases, recruit new attorneys and explore new business opportunities.

According to Saleem, the cloud, mobility and unified communications technologies have all had a positive impact on the technology used in many large and small legal firms throughout the U.S. The report focuses on some of the changes the legal technology landscape has undergone during the past two years, including a freeze in IT spending.

Saleem notes that law firms are now returning to their pre-2008 spending levels, and with more money available for technology, legal firms must balance the promise of advanced technologies with increased regulatory scrutiny. A new generation of law school recruits is also increasingly tech savvy, and law firms are trying to keep up with innovative technologies to remain competitive.

The consumerization of IT has also played a role, with demand for bigger, better and faster applications and hardware on the rise in order for attorneys to operate at maximum productivity. And while many law firms initially spent money catching up on existing technologies, new innovations are pushing them to continue to implement the latest solutions to keep up with their peers.

As a full-service IT consulting firm, Simplegrid specializes in managed IT and technology consulting for the legal, financial and healthcare industries. The company has been in business for more than 10 years, and specializes in legal IT support services in the New York City and New Jersey regions. The MSP offers a full managed legal IT support program designed to help law firms deal with complex IT challenges as well as day-to-day IT support.

Simplegrid was recently chosen by a NYC law firm to recommend and support a high-level, Microsoft (News - Alert)-based IT solution focused on Microsoft Exchange, WIndows 7 and Citrix. The major deal was based on the MSP's expertise in Microsoft's e-mail hosting and collaboration technologies, as well as its experience in the legal services market.
