Value-Added Distributor Westcon Solutions Expands Operations to China


IT security, networking monitoring and reporting and optimization solutions distributor Westcon Solutions has expanded its operations to China. The company, part of Westcon Group (News - Alert), works with vendors to offer solutions to channel partners as well as a range of value-added services like marketing assistance and expert technical support.

The company is taking advantage of China's burgeoning IT market, which is expected to top $200 billion by 2015 according to industry analysts. Cloud computing, mobile Internet services and other emerging technologies are expected to drive the majority of the growth.

Westcon will address the requirements for value-added distribution while also offering local support from its new operations in China. The company also provides a customized approach to channel development and focused selling and is making investments in personnel for sales and technical certifications. Other areas of emphasis include marketing for lead generation, user education and partner enablement. Weston Solutions' (News - Alert) new operations in China will be led by Alan Zhu, sales director, who will report directly to Managing Director Wilson Ho.

The company maintains an overall focus on growing and enabling new and existing technologies throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Westcon is established in countries like Singapore, China (including Hong Kong), Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Taiwan. It has a goal of establishing a regional presence in key cities throughout South East Asia and North Asia to fill market requirements for on-site sales, marketing and technical support.

Vendor solutions included in the company's portfolio come from companies like Barracuda Networks, BlueCat Networks, Certes Networks, Check Point, F5, ForeScout, Good Technology (News - Alert), HP Enterprise Security, NetIQ, Novell, Radware, Silver Peak, SolarWinds and Splunk.
