NetIQ Rolls Out Cloud Manager 2.0 for MSPs

Now more than ever IT managers are being tasked with aligning IT assets with business priorities. A converging trend is that IT managers are looking to managed service providers to help optimize existing IT investments while also meeting the needs of business users.

With this notion in mind, cloud provider NetIQ (News - Alert) is rolling out its NetIQ Cloud Manager 2.0, a platform that helps service providers grant their clients the ability to manage service demands based on the cloud model of their choice.

With Cloud Manager 2.0, organizations can collaboratively manage the entire Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) experience – from business service requests to deployment to retirement – faster and more efficiently, according to company officials.

As an example of a company that has deployed Cloud Manager 2.0, Vodacom (News - Alert) Business Services is using the platform to help its customers achieve cost savings as well as differentiate itself in a crowded marketplace.

“To provide business services to corporate entities throughout Africa, we need the ability to deliver workloads on-demand across the data center and both private and public clouds so that we can quickly meet the operational requirements of our customers,” said Richard Vester, executive head of hosted services at Vodacom.

He said that NetIQ Cloud Manager 2.0 gives his company the business platform and the streamlined user experience needed to support a scalable, managed and controlled cloud that enables businesses to use the cloud infrastructure of their choice – whether it’s public, private, or hybrid, on multiple hypervisor platforms.

“While this delivers significant cost savings to our customers, it is also a critical differentiator for the services we deliver,” Vester said.

IT needs to be in a position to quickly accommodate the demands of today’s business users who expect seamless, automated, on-demand delivery of IT services across all devices, and without breaking existing delivery models or their teams, according to Tom Cecere, director, Product Management, Cloud Solutions at NetIQ.

“By managing the IaaS experience while granularly controlling resource allocation, NetIQ Cloud Manager 2.0 helps service providers efficiently manage the ebb and flow of service demands and improve their ability to successfully meet the needs of their users,” Cecere said.
