Rackspace Cloud Tools Program Joined by Dome9 Security

Dome9 Security has now entered Rackspace (News - Alert) Hosting’s Cloud Tools Program. The potential delivery of its automated cloud firewall management service will be now expanded by Dome9 to Rackspace cloud customers. Customers of Rackspace cloud will therefore be able to protect their Windows and Linux cloud servers from attack and unauthorized access. An announcement in this regard has been made by Dome9 at Cloud Expo 2011. Dome9 is a top provider of cloud security management. Rackspace Hosting (News - Alert) is a top specialist in the hosting and cloud computing industry in the world.

In a release, Zohar Alon, CEO of Dome9, said, "We're pleased to be working with Rackspace to provide automated cloud security management for their growing customer base. Through this joint effort with Rackspace, we are able to enhance security management for thousands of cloud customers and potentially millions more, as we continue to build on our success with this leading cloud and hosting provider."

Cloud firewall management has only been automated by Dome9 Security for public and private clouds and also for Virtual Private Servers pr VPS across various platforms. A critical gap in the current cloud security has been closed by Dome9. Administrators can connect to and manage their cloud servers in the current cloud security as ports like SSH, RDP, and MYSQL have been left open. Unauthorized control of a server can easily be gained by hackers who only need to guess the correct username and password or exploit any protocol vulnerability. All administrative ports for all servers and clouds are secured by Dome9. Secure, on-demand access is therefore enabled by Dome9.

Ven Shanmugam, senior manager for strategy and corporate development at Rackspace, said, "Rackspace provides cloud computing services to diverse businesses around the globe and security of their data is a key point of emphasis for many of these customers. We look forward to working with Dome9, which is focused on providing enhanced security management solutions to the market."

Cloud firewalls across infrastructure platforms are dynamically managed by the first-of-its-kind service, Dome9. Dome9 dynamically configures firewall access by leveraging either its light-weight agent or providers' security APIs. Only authorized access for a specific time is also ensured.
