Funambol Launches New Price Plans For Cloud Service

Funambol, a mobile cloud company, has launched two new price plans named Ultimate and Premium for its myFUNAMBOL mobile cloud service.

The users of the basic myFUNAMBOL plan, which offers 50 MB of storage space for free, can now upgrade to the new plans via the myFUNAMBOL portal. Under the Premium plan, 5GB of storage space can be bought for $34.99 per annum. The Ultimate plan gives the users 50GB of storage space for $99.99 per year.

Funambol also offers the new plans for BlackBerry (News - Alert) and Android users. The plans are available under the name “MobileMe for BlackBerry” for BlackBerry users and “MobileMe for Android” for Android (News - Alert) users.

The myFUNAMBOL application enables mobile phone users to backup and store mobile data in a secure “digital vault” or storage space by wirelessly syncing their phones and connected devices with the cloud. The application also simplifies the sharing of mobile user data and media with online media sites and consumer social networks like Facebook (News - Alert), Picasa and Flickr. It also enables sharing data with enterprise systems like Outlook.

Funambol markets its mobile cloud services as white label solutions to mobile operators and service providers, who in turn can deliver mobile cloud services to the mobile phone users.

In a release, Amit Chawla (News - Alert), Funambol CEO, said, “The introduction of the upgrade plans follows the rapid uptake of the mm4BB and mm4Android mobile cloud services. With more and more people syncing their contacts, calendars, pictures and other media to the cloud, users of our free basic service have already reached their storage limits. The additional storage provided by the Premium and Ultimate plans provides end users with the flexibility to sync data and content at their discretion. Service providers can also take full advantage of the upgrade plans by rolling out extended services as a white label solution."
